NITI Aayog, short for the National Institution for Transforming India, is the apex policy think tank of the Government of India, established in 2015 to replace the Planning Commission. Unlike its predecessor, NITI Aayog operates with a dynamic, decentralized, and collaborative approach to drive India’s development in the 21st century. It provides strategic and technical advice to the central and state governments on a wide range of issues including economic growth, innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation.

Its core agenda revolves around fostering cooperative federalism by actively engaging state governments in policymaking, promoting grassroots development, and aligning national goals with regional aspirations. NITI Aayog prepares long-term policy blueprints such as the “Strategy for New India @75,” vision documents, and action plans to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The institution also acts as a knowledge hub, promoting evidence-based policymaking through data analytics, pilot projects, and public-private partnerships. With divisions focused on health, education, agriculture, energy, AI, and emerging technologies, NITI Aayog is at the forefront of India’s innovation and reform journey.

Its portal offers access to reports, economic dashboards, state indices, and real-time development trackers, making it a vital resource for researchers, policymakers, and citizens who want to understand India’s policy direction.
